- Efficient heating, cooling and ventilation: Efficient equipment will be installed and the heat generated by the equipment that cools the ice will be recovered and re-used.
- Renewable energy: Photovoltaic panels on the annex buildings. This energy will be used to contribute to the lighting.
- Responsible material use: For the materials that will be used, a material passport is developed allowing the design team to track the environmental criteria.
- Efficient use of water: To minimize the consumption of potable water, the roof will be used to capture rainwater. This rainwater is used to irrigate the green areas around the new Palau while the water from the showers is recovered, filtered and re-used to flush the toilets.
- Enhanced accessibility: The design considers access for people with different abilities and for people with wheelchairs.
