Sustainability: future Camp Nou

 

  1. Efficient lighting: To minimize the energy consumption related to lighting, LED lighting will be installed throughout the building.

  2. Efficient heating, cooling and ventilation: To minimize the energy required for heating, cooling and ventilating closed spaces, energy efficient equipment will be installed.

  3. Better outdoor comfort: To take advantage of the natural breezes and moderate temperatures of the Mediterranean climate, the public concourse as well as a large part of the spaces on the ground level will be open to the exterior. 

  4. Renewable energy: The new roof of the stadium will incorporate photovoltaic panels that will produce renewable energy.

  5. Responsible material use: The existing infrastructure is being re-used as much as possible and the design focuses on reinforcing the existing structure while embellishing and expanding it.

  6. Efficient water use: To minimize the potable water used, the rainwater that will fall on the new roof will be captured and used for irrigating the greenery around the stadium.

  7. Spectator comfort: The new roof will enhance the experience of the fans while providing more comfort. It will allow an ideal viewing conditions for the fans and growing conditions for the pitch. Also, it will protect spectators from the wind, rain and the hot summer sun.

  8. Enhanced accessibility: The new stadium design considers access for people with different abilities and for people with wheelchairs.
