Spotify Camp Nou one year on from work commencing

June 1 marked one year since the machines rolled into Spotify Camp Nou to begin a major transformation of the old Stadium, enabling the interior buildings by architects Francesc Mitjans, José Soteras and Lorenzo García Barbón to be seen. The Espai Barça works continue according to plan, with the refurbishment of the future blaugrana home continuing, whereby the third tier pillars have become more evident in recent weeks, along with the pillars for the two tier VIP areas.

Work is progressing at a good pace, and the stats that best summarise this first year of activity include demolishing 73,500 m3, excavating 425,000 m3 and placing 7,850,000 kgs of steel and 54,900 m3 of concrete. The almost 1,200 strong Stadium workforce are now targeting work on the upper tier's metal structure, the partitions inside the Spotify Camp Nou, and first and second tier seating placements before the seats are fitted.
